It is currently still being worked on, but is a complete game (but many things will be added, other things may change). Very active and responsive developer.. Has rapidly become my favourite roguelike+ flexible characters: I've made warriors who were masters of toxic magic, and mages who were whirling industrial melee death grinders+ difficulty: yes it's hard, but 95% of my deaths have been via my own dumb stubborn SAVE ALL THE CONSUMABLES headspace+ Dev's attitude: constant updates and bug fixes, new stuff to find nearly every week+ replayability: lots of characters and races to experiment with+ cheap: like the budgie- minor balance issues: there are OP talents and items - confusion, life spike + cannibalise, anything with speed - that can make runs too easy- minmaxing a character to an insane intelligence/spell power and then casting disease on a blinking opponent- nah that's my own dumb fault as well, seriously if you like roguelikes, you're going to dig this the most. A great game that reminds me of older roguelikes especially Nethack. The only suggestion I can make is to add much more content as the game goes through early access while somehow still keeping it a simplified experience.. Before my review gets too confusing, I would like to say highly recommended. Developer is very active in adding and adjusting content which is nice, and the game is greatly enjoyable. That said...I hate this game. I just keep playing it for whatever unknown reason. Self hatred? Desire to make myself punch through my monitor? Maybe both. It is just such a good game that I keep dying in and then have to restart with nothing that I quit probably 20 times a day. Played it for many more hours as a F2P game online and paid just to support the developer in this game that I loath and wish never existed. Thanks for ruining my day by making this, please continue your work.. Great game if you like these type of rogue-like dungeons with classes, races, spells etc.. Solid coffee break style roguelike. Simple core mechanics but plenty enough variety and challenge to keep one entertained for a long while. A definitive imporvement over the previous flash iterations of the game, which were not half bad to begin with.It has undeniable roots in dungeon crawl, keeping popular interface features such as auto-explore and "tabbing". Most importantly it is free of grindy or fussy gameplay elements, preserving a streamlined roguelike experience with a good pace.Developement is very active, we have received frequent content patches since the steam release.Definitely recommended for fans of the genre.. I found the demo on itch.io last week and was instantly hooked.Rogue Fable III is a promising, however textbook, rogue-like. The gameplay is engrossing, though sometimes impossibly difficult; one wrong move can result in death. The gameplay hinges on random luck, perhaps even fate. The retro graphics and sound are garden variety, though I was put off by the visual artifacts from the sprite scaling at first. While the controls are typical for a rogue-like, the "auto explore" feature is a welcome innovation. The mage "attunement" spells are irksome to cast repeatedly. On my wish list are summoner and paladin classes. A witch class would also be very interesting.Overall, this simple and straightforward rogue-like is a favorite despite it's irregularities. The optional side quests are novel and boost the game's replay value, while the stat server adds a social dimension to the game.. Amazingly fun and challenging game when it was on kongregate, it is still very early in open access, but it onlt gets better. Each run starts to feel more unique. Really fun game, amazing buy at the price.. Rogue Fable III is in my opinion the most enjoyable "coffee break" roguelike - true to its roguelike roots, but very accessible and enjoyable. I can highly recommend it to everyone who enjoy tactics heavy games like X-Com series, as well as to enthusiasts of any other roguelike games.. I have played every iteration of Rogue Fable that was released on Kongregate and it's always a good and fun few weeks while I get all the classes down to <45 minutes for game completion. That is what keeps the game challenging and I hope there will be badges and goals for the Steam version too. It's an engaging, yet simple game, that you can do in <2 hours playtime per attempt, and having the challenges is what keeps you coming back for more. One little nitpick I have is that I usually play on a 13" laptop and the screen doesn't automatically size to fit. If I'm on a timed game, I don't like to waste a few seconds resizing the screen. I don't know if there's a way for the window to detect automatically what size the screen is and fit. I did eventually find a "whole screen" button in options, but sometimes, I do want to see my other windows in the background and resizing the screen manually takes a while. I know, I should probably resize it before starting the game, but I'm usually just so excited once the game loads that I want to play right away and I forget! Also, the power strike countdown doesn't seem to work sometimes? Occasionally, I'll take 10 steps and it stays at the same countdown number.
